Switch on Bob Harris
Mmmmmmmm-Yea.
Nice.
The first of our guests in the studio tonight is being one of my favourite entertainers for a very long time. And it is a real pleasure to introduce him to you now.
Roddy Du Allen.
Hello Roddy.
You’re welcome Bob.
Well, we might as well start from the beginning Roddy.
What did you do when the Pistols had split?
Well I just had another martini, and booked a flight to Barbados straight away.
Hm. Yea-Nice.
Of course I had to phone the palace and cancel all the recordingsessions.
Yea. How about those sessions Roddy.
Can you tell us something about them.
How did they come about?
Well, I’ve always had a musical ear…..
You know when people go to bed, trying to sleep, their noses whistle?
Yea.
Well. Mine plays Strangers In The Night.
Hm. That’s amazing Roddy.
Naturally, of course, this has inspired me to sit at the piano and sing.
Hm. Does Princess Maragareth join in on these sessions?
Yes, as a matter of fact she does.
And what does she play?
Drums.
Drums…yea.
And then you got a recording deal.
Yes, well a friend of ours said it sounded so good that I should …. make a record.
So you feel generally involved as an artist with the record. And you’re not, as some people have intermated, just cashing in on the cheap publicity you have been getting.
No, no..! I really dig it….man.
I mean it’s so…eh…geaer.
Well, yea. Right on Roddy.
Can you tell us what songs you’ve been doing on the album?
Well I selected a few of my own favourites. Like the team from Casino Roysale for instance.
And simply doing Elizabetian Reggae.
And of course I’m Happy To Be On An Island In The Sun..?
I thougt of doing some selections from The King And I.
Aaaah?
And we mustn’t forget God Save The Queen.
Ah, Yea. Of course.
Finally Roddy. I know you’re not keen on answering personal question, but do you mind answering just one.
Certainly Bob.
Well one thing I’ve always wondered about.
Does Princess do(&%#¤%”!&(¤#””#¤?
